I havenât stayed at island Resort hotel yet but Iâm always riding pass the hotel on my way to work at chingoteague high/middle school and Chingoteague Elementary School! It catches my eye every time I drive by, iâm learning that you donât have to drive thousands and thousands and thousands of miles away from home to find an enjoyable little getaway! I live on the mainland of the Eastern shore of Virginia in Temperanceville and I would love to book a hotel stay in February for a few days for my wedding anniversary π’―π’―ππΎππΎππΎππΎππΎππΎππΎππΎππΎ will be considering a stay at island Resort when the summer season comes to an end π’―π’―π’―π’―ππΎππΎππΎππΎππΎππΎππΎ

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!
We just left here this year June 2025 very unhappy. The service from the owner was awful we booked one room full size beds not queen and the rooms smelled terrible as other quests complained also. Air conditioning was not keeping rooms cold not just ours others also. They do not care to listen to any complaints and shut you up. The owner will not address anything face to face. We booked one room she charged us for 2 rooms double the money. TOTALLY WRONG VERY BAD BUSINESSΓ’â¬Β¦
We went to the office to get our money back numerous times on the room we never used. They lie and do not care about thier employees either. The place is not updated and has went down hill very badly. The breakfast is not good cold eggs that are from a box not real eggs and microwaved sausage if that is even provided. No fruit most of the time. Please do not waste your money. The other places on the island are cheaper and better with breakfast. Next time we will be staying down the road. Weâve already found several amazing places..
ALSO the owner and almost every bad review has made it seem like the customer is wrong not her, but if you read the reviews on several different pages, youâll see we are not the only people complaining about the problems and the issues that this owner states itâs never her fault itâs ALWAYS THE CUSTOMERS FAULTâ¦. And the customer is wrong not her!!!

The Island Resort more than exceeded our expectations. I know it boasted of the 'best views'.... but we did not realize we were sitting right on the bay and the views were breathtaking! The room was spacious and immaculate! The atmosphere at this place.... truly the best of both worlds - Resort amenities with a Bed and Breakfast charm. The breakfast was way better than most hotels that offer a 'free breakfast' -Becky (the talented chef of this fine breakfast) was awesome and treated everyone like family - and the whole staff was delightful! I cannot say enough about this place... We are already planning our return! Thank you for making our first visit to Chincoteague so memorable! So close to all the attractions and downtown - but we barely left the resort grounds!

This was our first time ever staying here over the Memorial Day weekend. The location is very convenient with plenty of parking. King room with an awesome view!! The room was large, clean, and the furniture and bed was very comfortable. We have already made another reservation for August. Highly recommended.

Can't recommend enough. Stayed for a few days and it was quiet and relaxing. Your close to most of the main attractions without constant traffic. A small extra detail would be for those who enjoy lifting. It had the best gym iv ever been to in a hotel.
And I totally didn't try and bribe the staff to look the other way while I awkwardly loaded some of it into my truck.

Beautiful, clean room, plenty of parking and easily accessible. I had a perfect view for my balcony. I was greeted when I checked in. Will definitely stay here again!

We were enjoyed a quiet weekend away with out the kids. We stayed in the main building on the 3rd floor, in a king non- smoking room. The room was very clean and spacious with spectacular views. The property is beautiful with plenty of outdoor space. We were pleasantly surprised to find the on-site island gym, including the hot tub/cardio room. The complementary breakfast was great. This is beautifully kept, non pretentious, family friendly and couple friendly resort motel. Note that there are no microwaves in the rooms and I sadly understand the reason for this. The staff is incredibly friendly and go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed. We canât wait to come back! This will be our go to for beach getaways!!

Loved our stay here! Location was amazing, close proximity to activities but far enough away from some of the busy areas; perfect if you are looking to relax a bit! Indoor and outdoor pools were both good. Room was spacious and clean and had a beautiful view of the bay. I was perfectly content to sit on the balcony for hours at a time and just take in the sights. It was also nice and quiet, I didn't hear noises from nearby rooms at all. Some say the rooms are a little outdated but I think that gives it nice character. The rooms have actual keys instead of digital cards which was cool! The property was beautiful with many nice little places to relax and just hang out. Breakfast was delicious; they had southern classics like biscuits and gravy and grits. The coffee was perfect, not super strong which is the way I like it. Front desk staff were very welcoming and helpful. I would absolutely return!

Nice place to stay. Staff was friendly and considerate. The free breakfast was a good way to start the day. The location was perfect, walking distance to many places and restaurants. The rooms were comfy and had all the amenities.

My husband and I searched several other locations to get a place and this one kept popping up. Its reviews were amazing and the price was cheaper than other hotels that did not offer water views. We slept with the door to the balcony open and were awakened by the sound of the bay. We sat on the balcony and watched the birds. There are inside and outside pools, an exercise room and a boardwalk. Weâve had a problem with the breakfast at other hotels during this trip. It often tasted like cafeteria food. This place had the best breakfast of any place we stayed. The waitress was refilling everything and asked if we needed anything. We walked along their private boardwalk. The room had plenty of literature so that we could enjoy the amenities of Chickateague island. I highly recommend this hotel and wish we had stayed longer, but we had reservations elsewhere.

This has to be one of the nicest places we have stayed at in a long time. Super clean spacious rooms, awesome views, great free breakfast. Every employee we run into, especially the housekeeping staff are super friendly. The grounds are very well kept and overall was just a really nice place to stay for a week. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful stay. The free breakfast was so much more than we had expected. Waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, oatmeal,cereal, toast, English muffins and so much more. The view from our balcony was beautiful. We enjoyed the indoor pool, but did not get into the gym. The room was standard. The cleaning staff was awesome. Hooray for extra towels!! The desk staff was incredibly helpful and full of wonderful information.

The Island Motor Inn is my go-to vacation destination when I want to visit Chincoteague Island. The rooms are clean and the water is always hot! The highlight for me is the breakfast served in the Cafe. Every morning, they have biscuits and sausage gravy (one of my childhood favorites)! A Belgian waffle bar! Freshly brewed coffee and tea packets for you to choose.
The pier out back is a quiet and cozy walk at night. The lights shining off the bay river are incredibly beautiful and make for a wonderful sunset evening. My favorite part of the pier is the hammock. They recently replaced the old one with new, and it is always out and ready for use.
Oh! The staff have always been polite and professional every year that I've made a visit. I highly recommend making this your hotel of choice for Chincoteague island!

Such a nice older hotel. Everything is well maintained. The employees were all happy and helpful. The beds are soft and cozy but a little on the small side if you have tall people in your family. The pools and jacuzzi was great! Overall great stay and experience. The rooms were very clean and the full breakfast was delish! We will come again.

We have stayed here over the last 7 summers and it has become tradition with our family. We love the views, the pool is wonderful and the location is great for us. Breakfast with Becky is wonderful-she always ensures everyone is happy & she is one hard worker! The housekeeping staff is wonderful as well, they work with us to ensure that we have everything we need & are very respectful of privacy, if thatâs important to you. I highly recommend the Island Resort, we love it!

This is the best spot to stay in Chincoteauge! The rooms are spacious and clean and you cannot beat the sunset views! Chincoteague Island is one of our favorite places to celebrate our anniversary and I just booked our 5th reservation here. No place else we'd rather stay!!

What can I say? We stumbled on this hotel by accident. Usually ocean city vacationers but after coming here we may never go back to OC. Rooms clean and staff is so nice. You can tell it's family owned. and that breakfast, my my my and i love that they have an adults only building. Choices are always good. Why stay at a chain when you can stay at a place that feels like home. This is the place!!

My sister and I stayed for 2 nights here July 28th&29th 2022.......WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hotel! It is right down on the left as you come off the bridge, you may even miss the sign as it looks very secluded from the road. After you pull in you will see it is right on the water...the views are AWESOME and the entire outside property and inside rooms are well kept and spotless....in pristine condition considering it has been there since 1982! It is a quiet area and all of the staff we met were so friendly and helpful. The gentleman in the breakfast area even gave us the name of the waffle batter they use to make the best waffles ever! There is an inside and outside pool and gym also. They have it all and more....great photo opportunities too!! WE WILL BE BACK!!!

It is a great place to stay and relax! Beautiful sceneries from the ground and the rooms. Room was very nice and spacious with a nice balcony and view. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Overall a great place @ a great price. I would advise anyone to stay here.
